It's gonna have TP and Mike Campbell and Jeff Lynne all over it.

:D

BG is gonna sing Mr. Blue Skies.

Someone will surely be in damage control here. I'm not sure Lars didn't have something to do with pushing the boundaries of the Rubin crushing. He has a way of destroying.....He (R.R) has however, a commendable set of work. I myself am quite interested in what he will produce here out of ZZ. A haircut is probably not in order, but a unique sound/production for ZZ will be definitely interesting for me.

I give ZZ Top credit for hangin around, I'll never forget a Molly Hatchet interview I saw in the early 80's with them saying synthesizers were a flash in the pan, a month later the new ZZ top came out and we know history after that.

ZZ Top albums are destroyed way before the producer gets a hold of it.

DITTO!

If anything, maybe Rubin will help them find their early roots again, before they started all that shit with the funky/fuzzy guitars and MTV videos (though at least the women were always hot).

Sometimes you have to spike the ball to live for another down, bands that refuse to evolve lose that opportunity. Some bands arent willing to sacrifice anything, thats cool maybe generations from now people will discover their genius..... or not.

If you spike the ball at any time other than after a touchdown, it's a 15 yard penalty.

Only if its intentional grounding. Your allowed 2 strikes before your out, the pitchers allowed 3 balls before you walk.

Whats your point?

There's evolution and de-evolution...

What's your point? You made the weird football analogy. I'm still trying to figure out what you meant. :D

Intentional grounding is not a 15 yd penalty. It's 10 yds and loss of down. Spiking the ball in the field of play can be called as a dead-ball foul unsportsmanlike conduct (15 yds) or if it's the defense doing it to keep the offense from lining up quickly, it can be called something like an unsportsmanlike delay of game. This is not to be confused with strategically "clocking" the ball in which the QB immediately throws the ball at the ground after the snap to stop the clock. It's sometimes called spiking, but it's really nothing more than a quick incomplete forward pass. It's not technically a spike because it's not a celebration, taunting, or disruptive play and it's not grounding because there are receivers in the area. This has been football 101. :D

Maybe it's only gonna be a *Best of ZZ Top* album with the compression the way it was suppose to be!

I'm not buying it so I couldn't care less who produces it or what it sounds like.

I'll buy it if it sounds like the old ZZ Top. The newer shit sucked.
And I thought it was Metallica that fucked up Metallica's latest.

Its about the money. Sure I would like to see the old ZZ Top sound, the "Tres Hombres", "Fandango" era bluesy/rock sound I was introduced to. But the "Eliminator", "After Burner" era was what made them money. And its all about the money, so its gonna be some type of pop/commercial oriented music with a ZZ Top vibe. And they hope with "Rick Ruben" at the helm its somewhat a success. Personally the only stuff I liked that Rick Ruben did was the Johnny Cash LP's
