Ribbon Mic + Preamp + Interface

Hey guys,

I've been using my Zoom R24 for most recordings lately and haven't had a problem.

However, recently I picked up a cool ribbon mic (Apex 210...cheap, but highly regarded for its versatility in the studio) and am finding it too quiet with the R24s Pres.

I get good results when putting the ribbon mic through a Presonus Bluetube DP and then into the R24, but from what I've read that might not be a good practice, as I'm basically just doubling up on preamps at that point, right?

I was going to trade/sell the Bluetube until this need arose...I'd still like to get something that inspires a little more pride of ownership though.

What do you think?

Hmm, nevermind the 2 preamp issue, as I forgot that the R24 can accept line level inputs. However I'd still like to upgrade from the Presonus Bluetube if possible. Any suggestions for something slightly better (without starved-plate tube gimmickry) that I should look for?
