Me & Ed did this one about a year ago. Of all the tunes we've done, this one is probably my favourite. The original mix had several shortcomings which I've tried to address, so see if you think this sounds OK... Any comments or suggestions are appreciated

I never heard the first version but this sounds pretty good. Pretty interesting. It seems on my setup that the hat and vox seem a little bright. Lots of sibilance on the vocals and the hi-hat is pretty shrill in some spots. The rest of the mix sounds pretty good. Theres some timing issues in spots like from around :50 to :57, but maybe yall meant for it to be that way.

Overall its pretty cool though. Good job guys. :)

This is pretty cool stuff... Lots of amazing rhythms going on in the music. Arpeggios, raunchy guitars, clean guitars - all good.

Dogman's vocals suit this well, good phrasing and powerful delivery. Just how long after the recording before you could talk again? You were really giving it. To think they do that everynight in some bands :D

I also liked the effects on the end of the vocal phrases. Are you mixing that on a board or in the computer? If the latter, how do you apply that? (I use a board so ITB is foreign to me.

:D :) :D :D :)

I like this mix...it's got some good dirt in it... :D Nice job getting those vocals to sit better...they came out really inconsistent. :o You got them to sound like they sort of belong. I'd like to hear the guitars brought up a little...I think they have a good tone for this song.

Nice job man...

That's funny, how would you know, you are on drugs! :) :D

I like this a huge bunch boys!

Bring dog's vocals up to the front a bit more in places.
His vocals should be in your face, IMO.
Pretty cool as far as I can tell.

This is pretty cool, can you give me details on your recording process?

I like the general vibe of this tune!

This is way far away from all this modern, formula, color by the numers, mesa dual rectumfrier, balad crap.

It's random and unpredicatable in spots, which I think is a huge plus.
It keeps my interest after several listens.

Nice job guys, Martha just said "It's a good thing"

It has a very cool Black Sabbath guitar vibe.

Makes me wish I had written or had a part or creating this tune.
This is right up my alley.

Keep telling yourself that, you wannabe.

:D JK

Yes, I agree, it is a very nice piece.

Awesome shit, guys. Really heavy and great drums. Dog's vox sound really cool in this.

I'm digging the second version better, but the vocals and/or high hats are alittle sibulant, like Greg said.

I'm tpying form udner my kebyoard......yuo gyus juts knokced me on my as.

Mix sounds pretty good. You could maybe bring the bass up a bit. I'm not hearing a lot of low end other then the kick.

I tell you one thing's for sure. That's a hard fuckin song to dance too  :D

Greg_L - Yeah I've just checked the channel strip settings on the vocal and there's a high shelf on there, snuck in somehow, so I can deal with that pretty easy. Drums will be a bit trickier though.. Thanks for the listen Greg

ido1957 - Thanks for the +ve feedback ido. Yeah it's all ITB. For the vocal effect, I inserted a delay plug on a bus, and just sent them to the bus with the send envelope at -infinity, and then just boost it on the phrases that need the delay. You'd probably do something very similar on your mixer, except you'd be riding the send level faders

Dogman - Heh yeah the vocals sit a lot better now I'm finding my way around the 1176. I always liked the phrasing & delivery you did on these. Nice job on the mastering too- what did you use, your magic multiband? :D You've certainly livened up the guitars nicely, although the top end is quite fizzy. I'm going to go back and cut some highs out. Cheers Ed

beezelbubba - Thanks beez. Wierd is good

LemonTree - Ha! Nice one. :D Grazias senor. (Don't know why I need to speak Spanish when people talk about bongs)

EL34 - I think whatever Ed did has the vocals & guitars sitting at pretty much the right levels. We did this around a year ago, but from memory I think it was one of the first tunes I put together with Cakewalk Project 5. So, recorded the drums, cut them into loops and loaded them into P5. Used one of the Cakewalk synths, Dimension probably for the techno noises, recorded the guitars through a small Fender amp, then added Ed's vocal, and now remixed in Reaper. Thanks for the comments man. Give my best to Martha :D

austinm08 - Yeah Ed got the guitars in a nice place with his mix. Thanks for the listen

RAMI - Yeah I'm going to have to deal with the sibilance thing. You look after yourself under there LOL :D Thanks a lot man

TexRoadkill - Thanks Tex. Heh yeah I must admit I did this in the days when I thought 'Bass? Whats wrong with a keyboard?' As for dancing to it, well it's not Groove Armada but there is still bootylicious bump potential there surely :D
