I recently recorded a demo song for my band with my cakewalk 4 program. Wondering if someone would give it a listen and pointers on how to mix it a little better and what tools in the program i could use to tweek the eqs to get a better sound. The tracks consist of
Track 1=bass drum
Track 2=snare
Track 3-overhead on the drum kit
Track 4=guitar
track 5=bass
Track6=vocals
I used all sm57s and a bass drum mic
When im recording, what would be the best decibal llevel to record at. Should i get it so its just under the red or lower?
I have so many other question but ill leave it at that
Thanks a million

I think it has a good beat, very danceable. I'd give it a 70. :)

Actually, you should post the song (really a link to it) in the mp3 mixing clinic. That's the prupose of that forum. This one is for discussing Cakewalk products.

:D Touché! (BTW, are you referring to the full "Hey Moskus" thread, or the abridged one?)

However, in our defense, I think if you read it very, very closely, there is a mention of cakewalk in there somewhere. :)

I think it's lacking "air" and "warmth". Sounds a little thin to me. The rhtym section is pushed so far back I can hardly hear it through the hiss of my undriven speakers.

I'm glad I could help. :D

It kind of does have to do with cake walk i would like to know what effect adjusting to tweak the eqs and if someone has sonar 4 could give me a help on what maybe they usually do use as a general added effect for mixing. Sorry once again about that and ill post it in the mp3 clinic
Thanks
Rob

Post it in the MP3 Mixing Clinic, and post the link here! We'll listen! :)
