Hi there

I am a musican who has been playing for years but has only just got into the recording side...allthough i feel my ears are quite good i am not technical atal

I have learnt that for my recordings I think Reverb is quite important...not that im looking for an 80s sound or anything but with home recording you cant allways get great sounding rooms and so on...so great reverbs should help this...?

my question is does it matter how many types of reverbs you use in a project....I cant help but think if you use to meany diforent types of reverbs through out the mix it will sound like to many "rooms" in one room if you know what i mean. i was thinking maybe pick one or 2 reverbs and stick to them?... is this so? or am i over thinking it and talking Crap?

You can use multiple reverbs (types & settings) on a single source (track) in your mix or on many different sources. Using multiple reverbs in the mix is a way to build different space/environments within the overall mix, making the end result more interesting. However, don't overdue the reverbs in any one layer, you want to “sense” the reverb more than hear it.

be very cautious aroung the reverb...it is really easy to go waaaaaaay overboard on the verb, and all of a sudden you're aldo nova or something...

There is no reason to worry about different types of reverbs in the same mix. It happens all the time. The previous poster was right though, be cautious. You can probably use less reverb than you first think.

Funny enough, I alwas have the opposite problem: I drown everything in reverb and people tell me that it's too dry...

How much reverb is too much?

I record in a very sweet sounding live room with natural reverb. The acoustic people I work with think it's just right and the electric players are always complaining about the lack of "reverb."

Just a thought.

You can't please everyone.....some people are just idiots! :D

thanks guys!

i find reverb to be the hardest thing to judge

i guess its because it a natral sounding effect....but at the same time has so many diforent sounds...

at the monent i feel the main thing that needs it is the snare drum...
