i am plaaning to record a very traditional track that dosnt allow me to have any backings..... the only thing we'll have the vocals & indian drums (Tabla), i am not great with using reverbs & delay. suggest me with such small combination of instruments what reverb & delay settings can enriched my mix. One more question, i hardly identify the reverb in professionally mixed tracks but there is something persists that smooths the vocals and give some ambience. How to achieve that ?

:D Yo Anurag:

Well, the room, whatever room, you're recording in will offer some ambience, especially from drums or toms or whatever you're using for this special type of recording.

Don't know too many pop stars who don't have BIG reverbs working to pump up the voice quality. So, if you listen to a vocal track dry--then listen to a CD vocal--you will hear the reverb for sure.

My fav setting on Yamaha reverb is their STAGE reverb. Just right if not over-pumped on the volume.

Good mics and a good mic pre will also add to the ambiance of the song. But, the person who mixes it can put it all together. Suggest you read about mixing and use some of the talent on this board if you want quality.

Green Hornet :D :) :D :D :D

I'm not familliar with a tabla, but if it could be tuned lower then the vox, to fill in the low end, I would think that would help. Also, a nice sounding room, with room mics for ambiance, would be a good solution for reverb.
