I'm getting sick of retail music stores. I know i shouldn't be complaining to you guys, but i just want to post about it. Now I know most retail music employees are salesman, and their pay is heavily commision based. The store i went to today, i once applied at to work there, but i found out that i would be doing sales, and it was mostly comission pay, so i turned it down, since i'm not a great salesman. Anyways on with the story. So i go into the store to check out prices on 57s since i needed a couple more, shit you can never have enough of them. I saw that they were 89.00, and i know sam ash sells them for 79.00, so i was gonna go there instead. As i was about to walk away, the salesman asks me if i need help, and i say i was just checking your price the price of your 57s. He told me 89.00 which i already found out. Then he asks me what i was using them for, i said recording. He said well thats not a recording mic. I basically said, yes actually it is, and he came back with no it's not, it's a live sound mic. I said well yea it is, but you can use it for recording too. He asked me what i used it on during recording, i said snare drum, and guitar cab, and maybe a scratch vocal track. He was basically laughing at me like i'm doing something wrong, i said do you have a problem with that, he said no, but it's not a recording microphone. so he went into the display case to pull out some Audio-Technica mic,and went on and on about how it's a great recording microphone. I can't remember exactly what he was saying because i wasn't really listening to him. I said look, i know how you guys operate here, you'll make more profit for yourself and the company if you sell me the different name brand mic that is cheaper, he replies to me with i don't know what your talking about. I said have a nice day and left. How dare he tell me what i can and can't use for recording, all for a freaking sale of a 40.00 audio-technica microphone. I know what mics i like to use when recording, and i'm not gonna take advice from a guy who is trying to sell me stuff that he probably never used before, just so he can make money off it.Anyways i'm sorry for the long post, but i was very upset about this.

thank you for your time

The world needs assholes too. Other wise how would you recognise us cool people?

And it is a good thing that salesman has one or he would really be full of shit.

Yo Brad of 719 ideas:

What a bonehead that salesman is.

Try calling Full Compass; they have an 800 number. I have done shopping on the 800 numbers and Full Compass almost always has the best price.

First time I bought anything there, the salesperson even sent me an XMAS card. Little things mean a lot....[sounds like a good title for a song?]

But, if you can test the gear before you buy it, or hear it, that's even better. Full Compass will take back gear; I don't know if they charge a re-stocking fee.

I also bought some stuff from Grandma's but haven't dealt with them for a long time.

Use two tin cans with a string and if you make good sounds, that's what counts. Send all other used cans to that salesperson who lacked salemanship.
