Hi Guys,

Recently I put on a show and at the last minute attempted to record it using just the internal microphone on a Macbook (very bad idea) as all I got from the mixer line out was noise. It seems that the Macbook microphone has some sort of gate built in which has basically crapped all over the recording and it sounds like it's playing at a very low bit rate (which it isn't). It's also got some weird phasing effect going on and I'm basically just trying to restore it to a listenable state.

It's the weird 'effect' that I just wanted to get rid of, is there a chance I could save it? Where do I start?

Here's a sample which has an obvious presence of the crappy noise: http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/844708/example2.wav

Thanks, J.

You're screwed. That is the sound of your noise cancelling. It trys to find any frequency that has a constant level and get rid of it. There is just no way of getting rid of that.

The point now is to make it sound like you did it on purpose.
