Herbi-Whore
howdy...I've come to the conclusion that my computer is really good at opening E-mails...and that's about it. Anything else and we have problems. So my obvious solution all things considered is to start from scratch and build another. there is two ways of going about that; (a) makin a machine that works for the bare requirements, or (b) spending mega moula on top of the line stuff. Obviously a will render itself barely functional and b is expensive so option (q) right in between but possibly upgradable to (b). I'm looking for two answers here...processor chip? (what brand number etc etc) and then what kinda motherboard? I want to be able to record my tunes without crashin because of speed problems. Im guessing that I will go with a 40 gig hard drive cause I need at least 20 gigs for all the other crap Im doin here. I will use the new computer for surfin, downloadin, gamin, some multi media stuff (flash and stuff) as well.
Experience with built in soundcards leads me to believe major computer manufacturers like to make a musicians life hell, so thats not gonna happen ever again, So yes, I'm going to buy a nice soundcard (no soundblaster thks). Herre's a page I found with many. http://www.cdbm.com/shop/search.cgi?keyword=delta I was thinkin of the audiophile originally but I see it doesnt have the breakout box. It seems I'm always crawling under my desk with a flashlight to plug in/unplug guitars and mics so the next soundcard (is that even what these are, or are they meant to augment EXISTING soundcards?) will be havin a box for easy accesability. I have a fair amount of time to look at this ( 3 mos) before i proceed with the building phase, so it's not a big rush, but, this time around it has to be done right. here's a couple of othewr tidbit's; I use a behringer gx112 and have a fcb1010 footcontroller to go with it so my effects are covered there, both in the studio and stagewise, most likely will be using n-track recording studio and possibly fruity loops for drums (maybe purchase a boss drum machine those are great)...no reall mic's yet but I plan on havin a good one of those soon too. hmmm what else, oh ya, soundcardwise, the ones on that page I don't think have speaker outs hehe just like for normal pc applications...and uh if yur gonna buy any steinberg products, get the full meal deal or it aint worth it... ok enough thks for all the info...
