I got a early 80's "Ross Fame Series Bass 50" bass amp
50/60hz 130watts and 8 ohms min for the ext. speaker. 12''
I searched the net for info on it a while back, and the only thing i found was that it is a cheeper version of a fender series amp, i seen a pic and they look identical.
this amp was phasing in and out, it wasnt really the volume changing, but the tone. after searching this site for hours, i randomly came accrossed a forum witch held the answer, first it said dirty inputs could be the cause, then pots, so i drug it out and started messing around with it, and low and behold it was the bass pot, its been collecting dust for a while. so i cleaned the bass pot with electrical cleaner LPS NOSpark <i am going to replace all the pots one of these days> and it worked great, until i tryed the bass up all the way. it almost blew the hat off my head, i was too close to the speaker. and it only did it once, blowing the speaker in the process. damn it, why cant this shit be easy, so now i need a speaker, a bass speaker, and i never bought a speaker before so...
I assume its a 50 watt amp with 130 watt if 'struck by lightning.' since it is a fender <kinda> i might like a fender sounding bass speaker <maybe> but our band plays 'Heavy Bluesy Metal'. i would like something that can handel slap and pop well, that a bass player wood like. <right now in our band we are three guitar players taking turns with two plywood basses>.
Personaly im currently lacking in funds, however i dont what that to take away from good suggestions that others could gain from, on this thread.
