Hi guys,
This is my first post. I havent had a chance to look around properly...but alot of good info. Thanks

I am abit of a novice at editing...so this is a stupid question, just bear wit me yeah? :p

Ok. BAsically, as you can get from the title...is as follow :

I have a mp3 file which contains someone speaking...its all just vocal. However there was ALOT of noise in the background, so after abit of research, I used the noise reduction effect.

That worked a treat...BUT...the only problem now is, the vocal echoes ALOT!...just wondering how would i remove this so that I just get a crisp sound?

Thanks

Depends what you mean by echo. If you're referring to noise reduction you're probably talking about a washy sound. That means you've used too much noise reduction and it's got rid of too much of the original signal which means you lose the crispness and it gives you that washy effect.

Hi Tukkis,
Yeah that sounds about right. This is what I did.
I found a sample of noise that just background noise....and highlighted it.

Went to Effects > Noise Reduction > Get Profile from selection.
Then I closed the Noise reduction window, highlighted ALL, went BACK into noise reduction and clicked ok.

Am i doing this right?

Also I have read in other forums / tutorials that they advise to CHANGE the settings to the Noise Reduction...only problem with THAT is when i change the settings...erm...i dunno how to get the DEFAULT ones back!

....should I abandon all hope?
lol come on! im not THAT bad! :D

Please help guys.
Thanks

Your technique is absolutely right, the only thing you have to mess around with and tweak is the 'Noise Reduction Level' from 0-100. Adjust that so it still sounds crisp but at an acceptable noise level.

You're never going to get noise reduction 100% without some side affects so you need to comprimise and find a balance.
