Remote recording start?

Hi,
Does anyone has sugestion on how to remotly start computer
for recording.

I assume it will probably be through some midi switch, but does anyone has real example? I have Samplitude 2496.

What I'm trying to do is sit firther from the computer
(say 10 feet) when I record but if I'm alone I don't have anyone to
click record onthe screen and it's too far to see. So I was thinking about some foot switch or something. But may be long ar cordless mouse will do the trick too. I'll just have to align with the
record button and don't move :)
