A cover version of the "Black Crows" song "Remedy"
Were starting to gear up for live stuff. Have enough original songs now to do a live gig so were recording a few covers to see how they might turn out. There'll be at least 2 Hendrix covers and this one and probly (fuck definatelly) more. So I'm aslo on the look for a bass player to replace me and another guitarist to replace my recorded multiple doubled self. Which should leave me to just throw my pick hand in the genereal direction of my guitar strings and have some rippen fun. If I could play two guitars and a bass at once, I would, but must double the lineup to 4 to do the live thing.

Anyway, this was a first take everything. Because thats what happens live. And therefore there's mistakes but we think professionally covered up enough to get away with. So thats what you'll here with this version. Even though I'm going to replace the guitar solo's (wasn't trying hard enough) which they made me keep. Well, had to be fair and true to a first take. I'll redo the tamborine at the end too.

This song is a fucking blast to play live. I miss the piano in your version, but that's all that's missing. Great job. I can actually understand what you're singing...I always just fake about 1/2 the words.

The bg vox are great...almost make up for that MIA piano.

good cover-hearing your guitar tone makes me realize how much mine sucks :(.....I saw the crows live in atlanta a year or so ago and they opened with this-exciting tune--though isnt that beginning riff copied from a Chicago song(Feel it getting stronger everyday?) Oh well-anyway sounds good-the cymbals may have sounded a little too high endy-but ive been up all night-Funny to hear that Aussie accent on this-this will surely rock the house live-good job.
 
Chris: Think I will put some keyboards in there. At least for this recorded version. Just wont be taking keyboards on stage. I dont have a keyboard in the house. Yet.


Stratomaster: Bad habit of mine to mix the kick and cymbols real big. Then again our drummer tells me its a good habbit. ????
 
Oh, it's a good habit. Killer cover my friend. I haven't done the cover band thing since '99 and a guy (named Guy, oddly enough) that I do a lot of writing with is trying to talk me into it again. I have to admit, I kind of miss drunk people telling me "You guys ROCK!" as I'm trying to take a piss (ah, strip mall bars).
 
nice job... I loved the female vox. Great job on everything else, too.

My only gripe is that the lead vocal didn't feel as "big" as the rest of the mix. I'd love to see this one live!
 
Kick ass version Scott.This will translate well live if you can pull it off just like you did in this recording.....like Chris said,it's a fun one to play and the crowds usually dig it......just play "hard To handle" and you'll have your Black Crowes portion of the set done.:eek:

Nice recording.The singer you have does a good job of pulling off the vocal.

P.S. the last band I was in actually got it's name from this song.

the cymbals sounded a bit louder than they should be, but that's just my preference.. and the very first lead sounded like it cut off a hair too soon..


I had to get used to hearing it with the accent.. it didn't take long.. I used to play this song when I was in a cover band.. I was the drummer..


It didnt sound as good as your version, but we never recorded it.. no females or boards either.. I'm sure if we had recorded it, I would be saying the same thing..

well, this is definitely up to standard for a live performance.......now all you need is to fill out the band.........sounds great, good luck
 
oh, and also, great guitar sounds.......how did you record them?

Man i love the accent on the lead singer - if that is you - Must be the Aussie connection! YEAH!

Great job on that cover Scott! Your music alway's convey's high energy. Glad to hear your going to be playing live. Hope you make it out here in the state's as I alway's thought Feel's music would be good to hear live. I don't have any mix advice as I'm just a newbie, but you guy's did a great job on "Remedy".:)

Track Rat: Were only going to do two or three covers. We still want to be an original band. These
will be just handy to have live.

JR#97: Glad you liked the female voice. I've been waiting for a good excuse to get Jenny to sing
for us.

Kramer: mmmmn, "hard To handle" ....tempting....

B.SABBATH: Have to admitt I like the cymbols that loud, but I better start listening. And I will
definatelly redo the half hearted attempt at the solo.

powderfinger: Thanks for the good luck. The guitar sound came from two different guitar and amp
setups. The left is a fender tele into a small fender amp cranked up pretty loud. The right guitar is a
more harsher edgier gibson into marshall setup. The solo's done with the fender setup. All miced
with a 57 through joemeek vc6q pre.

yiordanaki: Backup vocals by Jenny Taylor. Good friend of ours. This wasn't actually recorded
live, but done in the studio using only first takes. The bass and drums recorded together first, then
the guitars, then the vocals. Jenny came in the next day which was a great coinsidence, because we
hadn't worked out what to do with the backing vocals yet. The lead singer is the drummer. Yes all
Aussie.

Yes I did do that Wide World of sports title screen for Channel nine here in Australia. Its the one
thing that everyone recognises since its on TV nearly every day. I just get a (reasonably) good
wage, but something like that can cost from 300 to 500 thousand to produce. Glad you liked the
music video's too.There totally mine and cost me nothing since I did them myself. Im such a
plugger. Sorry.... BTW now that the Crocodile Hunter film is out...you see I can't talk about these
films I work on till they come out. I was in the special effects team on the croc hunter film. I
animated the satellite blowing up ( that was fun).

lassoo's the ultralight plane with rope. All that rope is not real. Its 3d. I built and animated all of it. It
was too dangerous to have a real rope between Steves boat and the plane. If the plane ditched
down because of the rope, Steve would have plowed into it. So I got to do the shot with 3d rope.

Not so sure about that, there's quite a few of us out there now. But also plenty of work.
You should see the new film studio there building next door to our block at Fox Studio's. Imagine a sound proof room thats a bit bigger than a football field. Aussie football field. Full open space with no collumns in the middle and as high as it is wide. That would make some drum booth....
