The Pie Guy
This is an instrumental I have been tweaking for some time now.
My signal chain is as follows...
Taylor 314CE mic-ed with a Rode NT1 into a Mackie 1402 VLZ Pro mixer into a Maudio Delta 10/10 card into Cool Edit Pro 2
Drums are loops I made for a Yamaha DGX 202 Portable Grand synth...direct into the Mackie etc.
P-Bass direct into Mackie etc.
Les Paul Custom into a POD 2.0 into the Mackie etc...
verb and eq on all but the Taylor....it's cleaner than snot :D

All comments are welcome.
Thanks,
Joe

Joe - very nicely produced, I thought. I particularly liked the way the drums sat back in the mix, that really worked for me. Nice job on the Taylor, did it record like that or did you EQ the bottom end away? Very well played, sounded solid and consistent without being compressed - sounds like a pro job :)

Didn't like the Les Paul so much, sorry, just sounded a bit thin, and I thought it was panned too far for a lead. My other "constructive" comment is a musical one - it starts off one way and stays the same all the way through, which is a lot for a 3 minute instrumental.

Nevertheless, nice playing and production.

Hey Gary,
Thanks for checking out tthe tunage man...much appreciated amigo :D

The Taylor is mic-ed only...no eq...no verb....no compression...clean as snot :D

If and when I re-mix...I will fatten up that lead with some verb man....
I hear ya on the monotony bit....perhaps some drum fills might help spice it up....

now if I could only remember which loop I used...  :D

Thanks man,
Joe

Nice fat track. I started coming up w/ lyrics and melody right after 15 seconds in. It's beggin for a vocal. Didn't you say my guitar on my track was too low? Funny, I'm thinking your electric guitar on the right is too loud :) However, I must say, your restraint and melodic guitar work is super. I just need a break somewhere from the solo. Maybe just a few more rests and less drone, but that's just me. I'll listen to that again.

pretty good dude ....not sure if the music style is what i normally get off on but i really appreciated the acoustic ring and bite...prehaps too high in the mix. The lead break was a little unrelenting as a whole ...would be nice to see some dynamic contrast ..a few holes hear and there....but then that could just be down to my personal taste.

Hey man...How goes? :D

Thanks for checking out the tunage...I am gonna re-mix sooner than later and I will lower that right guit man...thanks man!
lyrics?...
that seems to be the buzz word on this one man...Thanks again!

zazz..

Thanks man....I agree...sometimes less is more...
I went nuts on this one because an earlier mix comment said it wasn't busy enough...perhaps drum fills will help..
Thanks man,
Joe

Hey Joro

Liking the AC gtr. Probably gotta agree with Junplugged on the right gtr. Could come down a touch.

I like how you faded the AC in also, and the cool little lead lick at the end of the tune.

Nice !

Thanks for the listen :)

I wasnt feelin the music.
But the mix was fine to me.

Good work.

Hi Vestast,
Thanks for checking it out man.
I will check the level on that right guit once I re-mix man.
Thanks again man. ;)

xfinsterx,
Thanks man...the mix is what it's all about.

Joe
