I'm trying to find a place where I can buy reliable used gear at a good price. Sounds like what everyone wants, eh? Well, I'm sure it's out there so if anyone can help me out I'd TRULY appreciate it. Here are the items that I'm looking for in specific.

Roland VS890
Lexicon MPX-1
AT 4033
Alesis QSR
A set of Alesis M1 Actives

If ANYONE can help me out here . . . .PLEASE do so!

Thanks,

The Houston Westheimer Guitar Center has a demo 890 for $1299 and a demo 880EX for $899. (713) 952 9070.

I would never buy a used microphone. You might get lucky and happen to get one in good condition but condenser mics are fragile things, and you just don't know what it's been through. Someone could have dropped it hard or left it in a sunny, humid place for too long. They also last a long, long time if you take care of them. It's a big investment so I'd only buy a new one. ( I own the AT4033 myself)

I'd look on Ebay for the Alesis QSR. I like the way the multi-timbral set-up is on the Alesis gear.

Bad advice, in my opinion. I would never buy a used recorder or microphone used online. You're not going to get a warranty or any guarantee buying from someone on Ebay. It's totally buyer beware. If, and when you ever have to take equipment into a repair shop, be prepared for a shock at how much it costs and how long it can take to get your gear back.

I don't want to scare anyone and I know I'm a hypocrite for just recommended buying the Alesis online......but gear is a big investment and I personally don't have a lot of faith in the sellers on Ebay and Yahoo. Buy used gear at a reputable music store that has a good return policy.

But, it's not my money.

One of my fave bits of gear . . . .

I got my Fender Rhodes Mark I 88 on an ebay auction. Product was great just as explained. And it was a DAMNED good price.

That's why there are feedback pages available to view before you buy. I personally will not buy from someone on ebay unless they have at least TEN POSITIVE SELLER feedbacks. If someone has 150 feedbacks, all positive, but none of them are as the seller, I'm not buying.

Awake, you'll usually find that people hocking music gear on ebay are dealers. Look at the feedback number next to the seller's name. If it seems to be quite high, you can be more than positive it's a music store just trying to make a little extra money on ebay. But that can turn to your advantage if they set a low reserve.

And I agree, I don't think that I'd buy a mic used wither. And with such a low price already, the 4033 I think I'll buy new. I was just giving a list of the things I'm on the lookout for.

I sell on Ebay occasionally and I agree you can trust someone with lots of positive feedback more than others.

I'm a little paranoid because I purchased some electronics lately that were defective.(Panasonic)I was glad I could take things back locally.

Good Luck

Another good site to check out as far as buying used merchandise is Digibid. Sometimes the equipment hasn't even been used. They also have a rating scale that tells the condition of the equipment. Prices are usually pretty good but its an auction so you can walk away with some pretty good deals. Its sort of like Ebay but they focus mostly on music and television production equipment.
