Not exactly sure what the "rumble etiquette" is regarding posting rumble tracks, but i called in sick from work today (yes, i'm actually sick) and needed something to do.

Here is your mission, if you choose to accept it:
thecollectorsedition.thegco.com/jazzrumblemp3.mp3

Very cool, almost sultry sounding. I like this. I'll give it a try later, and see if I can do something worth posting. Thanks.

Ok, here's my product.....12 beers, 4 tacos, and 9.5 hours of watering the North 40 later.....

i like how you kept it nice and slow, the rhythm/vibe of your playing did definitely work with the backing track. on a side note, are you sure your guitar was tuned?

anyways.. hmm.. not too many posts on this one; i thought some slow nightclub-ish jazz might be a nice change of pace for the solos and such. maybe i'll follow suit and post one of my own soon.

scrubs,

i really enjoyed that one.. i've been a fan of the ebow since i started listening to sigur ros, and i liked the various textures you got on that take.
the right-channel solo was great in contrast to the left, it reminded me of an even more effects drenched pink floyd solo; very nice.

I know there's some lurkers out there who want to start out with an "easier" rumble.. on this one it'd totally work to do a very slow, deliberate solo.

Thanks. Just some unstructured noodling. I totally hear the Pink Floyd thing, too, although it was entirely unintentional. The "effects drenched" thing was just a preset on the old Zoom 505 (same one used for both solos).

Dogman, I think that's the sweetest tone I've heard from your guitar. Nice job buddy.

Scrubs, I like the playing and the mood you set. There's an especially pretty spot at 1:00-05 with the interplay between the two guitar lines.

Good backing track Shiatzu. I’m hoping to be able to add a part over it sometime soon.

Tim

Dogman, I've gotta say that as I listen to your solo more on my jukebox cycle it's got qualities I didn’t notice at first. Yeah, maybe it's got some pitchy things but listening past that it's really a beautiful solo. When I listen to music, beyond what hits me as cheap intellectualization, I never know what I really thing about a piece until I listen over and over and just react to it at a gut level. And I like this in that way.

In an effort to move this to the top and entice some more mellow soloing from the shred-impaired members (like myself), I'm submitting an attempt at this one. There are actually 2 leads (a regular lead and an e-bowed one) on this track.

"Mellow Rumble"

The base track is still here for anyone else who wants to give it a go:

Scrubs.....Don't know what to say about that. Fuckin cool comes to mind. Better not say that though. Ok, Damn cool. That was just cool. Man, very interesting. ....

Tim, Thank you. Definitely some bad notes, but was fun to play with. I really appreciate the comments. Don't know what else to say to you, but thanks.

Scrubs- Very trippy, Pink Floydesque. That’s a tack I thought about taking, and you pulled it off nicely.

Dogman- Good tone and interesting harmonies. Well done.

lbanks, cool tone! The phrasing seems to go well with the backing track.

Thanks. Right in the middle you can hear where I discovered intonation problems on the Curlee. I think I was able to bend it back in tune. Nice backing track. I might try this with the Series 1, later.

apl, that's totally what i had in mind when i did the backing track, very nicely done.

lbanks, i have no idea what was going on with your guitar but wow, it sounded really bloody cool and full.

Cool playing guys!

Dogman - Despite the tuning issues, I agree with Tim. There are some nice resolutions to your phrasing and your soloing in general is coming along nicely.

apl - Very good tone. Fit the piece very well. I liked the change you threw in there at 0:47. Totally unexpected, but works great.

lbanks - That's what I'm talking about! Totally cool. More bass solos!!!

Whoa you all did a great job on this. Very moody the tracks.

I should throw one up. ((I can now since my rig is up and runnin'). I'll see what I can put together.
