(related to my prev. post) POD into Mac?

Most people I've talked to are basically sayign the same thing... if I'm going to drop $300 on a Tascam 4-track, plus mics, cables, etc, I should just put up a bit more cash and go digital.

Now, I'm starting to wonder if I really want a 4-track or not. I'm mainly going to just be trying to get some ideas down and maybe work out some song ideas. I don't play bass or drums, so I'd just be recording guitar parts. I could always get together with my friend who already has the Tascam 424 MKII if I wanted to record other parts (he plays everything).

Maybe I'd have more fun picking up a POD, and recording direct to my G3 Mac. My question is: what else would I need?? Is any more hardware required, or would I just need software? I have a copy of Macromedia Deck. Would I need anything more?

(the other benefits of the POD would be:
• headphone amp (I live in an apartment and can't play loud, especially late at night)
• it would be a great back up to my old tube amps and could be run straight through my friend's PA
• lots of new tones for me to experiment with
