Regarding mics...
Hi everybody I'm new here. Harvey I recognize you name from somewhere in my internet travels but don't remember where.
I have a small home studio, I'm running Sonar Platinum. In the last few weeks I've doing mic tests and have upgraded my mic collection. I bought 2- Neumann TLM 102's, a Focusrite 18i8 interface, and a Shure SM7b. After hearing the Nuemanns demo's, I was sold on getting new mics. After hearing the mic tests at my place, I'm glad I did, the 102's sound fantastic. I haven't received the SM7b yet, that'll be later this week. But from the samples I heard of it, it should work out fine.
I'm sorry, but I'm done with $100 dollar mics. The two Neumanns will be for acoustic guitar and the SM7b will be for vocals. I currently have a MXL V-69 tube mic, a Blue Baby Bottle mic, a pair of 603s mics, a Shure 57 Beta, and a AT 2020. They all sound okay,, but the Nuemanns, take the first prize.
Anyhow, it's a very nice forum you have here. Lot's of useful information.
