reel to close??

I have my TSR-8 sitting up behind my mixer on a the same shelf as my yorkville active monitors. Usually I leave the tape on the reel when not in use, and just loosen it up a bit to get it off the heads. Anyway, I realized the other day that the outer part of the left reel is about 6" from the front right edge of the monitor. SHould I be concerned about the magnets in the monitor being that close to the tape?

Yes you definatly should !

In fact my Fostex reel to reel is about only 15" from my large Mission Speakers which is too close, but 6" is WAY too close.
 
Yea, don't know why I didn't think about that when I put it up there... guess I'll just have to find a new place for it...
