reeaaalllyyy stupid DAT question

I know nothing about DAT. Nada, Zilch.

I have access to an HP Surestore Dat24 drive (4mm tapes, DDS3). Is there any way I can use this as a DAT machine interfaced with my PC?

Not sure about that model. It is possible with some models. Take a look at the following site and search the digests: http://www.solorb.com/dat-heads/ It is full of wise men over there.

I don't think you would want to bak up to a DAT tape anyway. There are heaper sources.
