redording vs mixing

so i dont use headphones after i record? i hook up my tascam 424 to like an amp and good speakers then mix it according to what i hear through the speakers? NOT THE HEADPHONES??
i wanna make sure thats the right way.

Recording=Headphones
Mixing/Mastering/Effects=Normal speakers (no headphones) in a good sounding room ?

please let me know the right way to do it thanks

i also wanted to add when i master it or get the nice effected sound on the machine how can i take it from the tascam to listen to it in like my car for example. do i need a tape deck to transfer the mix/song on? after its all done and sounding effected and good on the tascam?

im sorry i have alot of questions but i just love this and id like to know the right track so i can go for it !

that works for a lot of people.

I would try to get a pair of nearfields though.

Speakers.

They are called Monitors or Nearfield Monitors.

Do a search in this New group for monitors and wait for all the posts.
