recordings are always with an echo

hi there
i'm new here and new to cubase.
this is my problem
when i record the vocals on my track it records with an awful lot of echo
so when i hit the play button everything sounds like i'm standing in the middle of the himalaya
does anyone can help me i use cubase sx 1.06

Let's cover the obvious first.... are you using any effects such as Echo Echo Echo? Next, how are you routing your signal to and from Cubase?

Is "What You Hear" checked in the Recording Preferences of you Windows Audio Mixer???

Do you have a Soundblaster or Creative card and have an EAX effect on??? (Creative puts it on by default; screwing up any recording effort for newbies...)

I'm with the Cowboy. Try recording without monitoring and see if that fixes it for you.
