I curently have a berringer 1622 fx pro mixer a shure 57 mic
and a turtle beach sound card
im changing to wi xp and sound card has to be replaced
What sound card do i buy that is a full duplex (playing recording at the same time) and also one that will allow you to play games on computer????????
 
As I said...the audiophile should be right up your alley.
However there are plenty others to choose from depending on your needs.
 
How about the soundblaster audigy platinum x?
is this a good card compared to the 2496?
 
im reading at the specs of both cards
and what they offer the 2496 is more expensive 524 aus dollars compared to 440 aus dollars (they are ripping us off here down under) i still cant f..... decide which card to get lol
 
Well, i'll put it to you this way. You can in fact record with the Audigy, no problem. But the audiophile is a much better card for recording purposes.
Can you order from the states ? They run new at about $175-$200.
Or, there are usually several on ebay at any given time if you can find someone who will ship internationally.
 
Of course Im not trying to say you need this card specifically, but I dont think you would be dissapointed. I had one for a couple years and it was rock solid. A buddy of mine has it in his system now and it still keeps rockin.

over here they overcharge us on everything we buy MORE than double the price.
I have never bought over the internet but i think i should start now.
i will still have to make my mind if i go for the 2496 or the sb platinum x
platinum x comes with lot more features and it looks similar to delta 44 / 66 (external unit)
 
After a bit of searching around I recently picked up an Echo Mia for AUD450 in Sydney which is a good price in Oz even though it represents an equiv exchange rate of about .35 cf actual of .60. Its going great so far, but it may not suit what you want for games. For recroding though its great quality.
 
Has anyone out there used sounblaster Audigy 2 Platinum EX ?
According to Creative the following when i queeried about recording with their card::::
The Audigy 2 Platinum EX full duplex has the ability to record at 24-bit/96kHz,
and has ASIO 2 drivers for low latency recordings. The card also comes
with several programs to edit and record from various sources.

Maybe the music stores are unfamiliar with the advancements of soundcard media.
 
I cancelled an order for the Audigy 2 Platinum (not the Ex, but essentially same performance) when I did some further research on other options. That research included reviews of the older Audigy, Audigy 2, Audiophile 2496, Echo Mia, Terratec 6 fire, Waveterminal 2496 and Terratec EWX2496. I'm still not sure if the Audigy 2 is a true 24/96 card.

You would probably describe all of those cards, except the Audigys, as entry level "pro-sumer" cards or better, and out of all that, the Mia seemed to offer the best bang for buck in terms of 2 channel sound quality - which was what I was after, rather than midi, multichannel, etc.
 
Good man, as long as you didn't get the sound blaster you'll be happy!
