Hey all. I'm a bit new to (home)recording. I'm setting up my studio but here's the deal: I want to record Digital (on computer).
So, I have a SB Audigy external kit, so putting it on my pc won't be a problem. I have a 'mixer' from JB systems (=crap, it used to be my dad's) but i want to make a decent recording of my band, and the thing that i want to know is: how can i record each mic on 1 track seperately all at once? so that the drum mics are on track 1, vocals track 2, guitares track 4 and bass track 5?
Or is there any other way? Oh and i'm going to buy a behringer eurorack MX802A( http://www.behringer.com/02_products/prodindex.cfm?id=MX802A&lang=eng ) or a MXB1002 ( http://www.behringer.com/02_products/prodindex.cfm?id=MXB1002&lang=eng ) or should i buy another one? please give me some advice :)
thanx

If you want to multi track an entire band at once with a Soundblaster card or any two input card, you can't. You'd need a card with as many inputs as you need to record simultainiously.

With that card you can only track two tracks at once so that's your limiting factor. There are a lot of cards on the market that have multiple (8 or more) on the market that will allow you to do what you want to do.

:)

damn :(
another question:
what mixer should i buy?
I prefer a behringer :)

I've got a Behringer MX2004a.
No problems with it at all.
A lot of people will say get a Mackie, etc, but for starting out a Behringer is cool.

:)

cool! and what are the outputs on that thing? cinch cinch? mono jack?

You can record the whole band into a 2 input sound card, but you will have to pre mix everything and you won't be able to change the mix afterwards.

thx!

oh ok i get your point! :)
thank you for your advice, i'll test it this week-end :)
