I am new to this, please bare with me...If i record in wave format from a cassette, will I be able to burn it on a cd and listen to it in my car stereo or does it need converted of something before I burn it?

Yes, WAV is the format you want for burning an audio cd. Not sure what cd burning software your using, but make sure that the options are set to create an audio cd, and not just a cd with a *.wav data file on it.

Please also check if you have set your recording-software properties to: Stereo/16bit/44.100Khz. when you record from tape to harddisk.
If you have live recordings, I presume you don't want to have a 2 sec. gap between tracks, I'll advise you to use the option to
record your .wav-files with "Disk-at-Once"-
option (DAO) enabled (if possible) (look at recording-options in your cd-burning software) The other option is: "Track-at-Once" (TAO) which causes the laser to stop
between two tracks which causes gaps and/or
unwanted clicks. Good luck, EternitY
