Recording with reverb and no latency

A guitarist came in and wanted to record with some reverb. I loaded up a plug, and he said he could hear a delay. I hear it too, but just deal with it - however with him it appeared to affect his timing.

I put Pro Tools in low latency monitoring mode and the delay went, but the reverb plug deactivated as well. I tried to put the verb on a aux channel, but sends are disabled as well when low latency monitoring is on.

How do you all record with reverb and no latency??

a) Lower your buffer settings to as low as they will go without glitches

or

b) Use an outboard reverb unit.

put the reverb on the aux and then turn off low latency...but keep a lower buffer size. It's the direct monitoring that is screwing him up...and this is because your putting the reverb on the audio track causes a delay in both the wet and dry sound.
