recording with keyboard

All my equipment is running great and I am really learning how to use Cubase. But I have ran into a problem. When i record my Keyboard Via Tascam USB-122 I can only record the grand piano and no other instruments from the keyboard. How can I make it so the computer records and instrument I am playing on my Keyboard and not only the what seems to be default grand piano. I have gotten it to work but when I went back to use it again for some reason it did not work. I must be missing a minor but major detail. I am not using the emulated sound either. thanks. Peace.

Check your output routing and midi program settings, sounds like you are routing to a soundcard synth when you should be routing back to the keyboard

Try turning the local control to the 'off' position. That will break the connection between the keyboard and the sounds inside.

Then it's just a simple matter of adding program changes to the individual midi channels/tracks to call up the sounds you're looking for...
