Hi,
I've just upgraded to the audiophile 2496 soundcard and have worked most of it out except what setting to use to record what other cards have as "what you hear" so I can mixdown through my card. I know it's probably something simple but I can't work it out.

Thanks for any replies.

What software are you using? Most recording programs have an "export" or mixdown option which will "render" your multiple tracks to a stereo track. This can be done offline, or "live" so you can play with faders/pan/other settings. This is probably what you want to do. This way, the Soundcard doesn't come into play at all (except to playback the mix if you're doing it "live") This assume you're completely mixing "in the box".

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply,

I'm using magix studio 7. I'm using a combination of vst's and hardware synths/sound modules when midi recording and by plugging my synths into my previous soundcard I was able to mixdown both the synths and vst's without leaving the computer.

Can I still do this somehow with the delta 2496 or do I have to mixdown externally from the soundcard outputs?

OK, thanks for explaining your setup. What you could probably do is download Audacity (it's free, google it) and fire up magix studio 7 and Audacity. Hit Play (or whatever you do) and then hit record in Audacity (you might have to setup the correct input in Audacity), but you should be able to have Audacity record whatever is going through the main audio stream inside Windows. I do this to grab audio off of DVDs.

Hope this helps!

Thanks,
I used audacity and goldwave to record internally with my previous soundcard but now with the new card it does'nt even give me the option.

Basically all I want to do is be able to mixdown my midi hardware sounds with my software midi vst sounds without leaving the computer. I'm sure a lot of you do this, but this is starting to annoy me.

Maybe someone could give me a quick step by step or make sure my soundcard routing is correct.(I'm quite sure it is but I've been wrong before!!)

Thanks.
