Recording Vocals???

hey everyone i am a rapper and i was just looking for advice Recording vocals. I know it depends on ones preference but i would just like to know some peoples steps on recording vocals. Like for a regular verse would they just do it once, or would they dub the whole thing. I;m just looking for people steps and routines they like to do when recording vocals. Ne thing will help... The way I do it and was taught to do it was you lay down your main vocals(your verse). Then you go back and dub the punchlines and rhyming words threw out it. But it's really on what you prefer and what you think will sound good
