Vocals through a guitar amp!
I have some fairly nice equipment now but a few years ago I ran a mic through a Mackie 12VLZ board and then into the aux channel of a Line 6 axis guitar amp. I used the reverb of the Line 6 and recorded the voice w/reverb onto my hard drive via an AudioMedia 3 card. People would stick their noses up at the whole idea. I bought an Alesis reverb unit and it did not sound as good as my setup with the guitar amp so I returned it. I still listen to some of those recordings I made using the aux channel of the guitar amp and they sound great. If you work with some equipment long enough, it is often possible to get satisfactory results from the strangest setups. I use a Joe Meek preamp with a Lexicon Reverb now. I got tired of people laughing at me!
