Hey guys just a quick question, after i record the vocals they don't have that in your sound im look im going for, they are there and loud but it just doesn't have the attack im looking for, is that something im doing or the vocalist, and how do i fix this?
Thanks

Not sure of your specific situation without hearing it, but 90% of everything is the talent.

I should make this my sig...

Are you tracking with compression?

I have a few names that can ruin that theory for ya. Britney Spears, Ashlee Simpson, and most of pop music. Do you still think that their music is 90% talent. That is if you meant 90% is base on the talent of the singer.

I didn't record it with a compressor but theres one on it now

dw. try doubling the vocals for thickness. ie..record two tracks of vocals.
on the second track try sliding it forward in time by 5 milliseconds.
experiment with the actual number of milliseconds.
after doing the slide put the second track fader just under the first.
if using awfull sounding mics like i sometimes do for an effect try eq cut in the 2k to 8k region, and boost the low mids for warmth.

Perhaps you must think that the above named artists are talented then?
