Recording Vocals Pitch Issues

I had this same problem in which singing live was great but once cans were on there was a problem. Three things changed this for me so now I can get great recordings and not sound as off: 1) headphones are sort of half on/half off my ears (they sort of rest on my ears but not completely over them) so I can still hear the room and myself outside of the phones, and I don't get terrible leakage from the music either; 2) muting myself as I'm recording, and 3) confidence!

Those are 3 great things! I recently tried muting the vocals and my accuracy was much more on than tracking with vocals in the cans.
