I have recently set up a home studio which I use to mainly record Hip Hop and R&B artist. I prefer that the artist provide me with a tracked out beat, but the majority of the time I get a single mp3 or wav file to record their vocals over. Its not too hard for me to make the vocals sound good on a track that doesn't consist of many instruments, but when its a very lively beat with a lot of instruments I find it harder to make the vocal sit well in the mix. Can anyone give me some tips on dealing with this problem?
