recording vinyl to CD

What's the best way to record from vinyl onto a computer-based CD burner? Should I connect my turntable outputs to a preamp and then connect the preamp to the line-in on my sound card? Or somehow connect my stereo amplifier to the soundcard?

Find a line out from your stereo amp (the ports that would feed the input of a cassette recorder would work nicely) as this has an RIAA preamp for the turn table (a must have item) and go into your sound card. Of course you'll need recording/editing software of some kind as well.
