Hello there, just bought a sound card and a mic for recording and i tried to record in Cubase but for some reason the mic records music too apart from the voice(so when i solo the vocals i can hear the beat with them)i record with headphones so no music is heard from speakers...can anybody help please?thanks a lot in advance

Sounds like you have your inputs routed wrong.

Take a snapshot of your VST Connections window as well as project window and attach them here. :)

Also, a list of what your gear is would be a good idea.

I have a soundcard Tascam US125M,a condenser microphone "Carol Σ- plus" and a Behringer PS400 MicroPOWER Ultra-Compact Phantom Power Supply
Here are the screenshots, thanks a lot for your help

Not sure why 'solo' would allow you to hear both, though not sure about that interface or the generic ASIO Driver either. Are you sure you are pressing the 'S' button to solo? There is no recorded vocal shown in your snapshot.

1st thing though, you should create a mono input bus for the mic and then a mono track for the vocal. Then on the left side panel (Inspector) shown in your 1st snapshot, select the mono input bus you created for the vocal track. Press the record enable and monitor button to hear the track while recording.

I need some clarification because I only see 1 track of Audio that has been recorded and that is your manos-xtac beat track.
I don't see a separate vocal track that could be solo'd.
Did you record your voice along with your beat track at the same time?

I've looked at the Tascam Manual and one thing it states is:
THIS INTERFACE USES THE STANDARD AUDIO DRIVER OF THE COMPUTER OPERATING SYSTEM, SO SETTINGS FOR WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER, iTunes AND ALL OTHER AUDIO APPLICATION SOFTWARE IS THE SAME.
I am far from being an engineer and I see that the Generic ASIO Driver seems to work but I wonder if another interface geared more towards Pro Audio Recording would be better to have.

So this is the project with the changes that have been said and tried with ASIO4ALL too but still no luck unfortunately..:(
for some reason the beat-music has the same volume in the recorded Audio Track as the original..

I have been using Cubase for a number of years and have 6.5 currently.
Can you share a snapshot of your Mixer when you are doing the above?
There is a monitoring "button" that needs to be switched on while recording and off during playback.
"Mixer" is found under "Devices".

I mentioned it above but I still wonder if your Tascam US125M is fully compatible with Cubase.
Having read the Manual, it states that "THIS INTERFACE USES THE STANDARD AUDIO DRIVER OF THE COMPUTER OPERATING SYSTEM"
It's working per se but not so much.

You may want to take a trip to the Steinberg Website, log-in and go to their Cubase 5 Forum and post your questions there.
They may be able to tell you what specific Drivers should work best with your Tascam US125M.

Just a shot in the dark, but if you are recording the vocals and the music at the same time, music in stereo/ two channels, and the voice in Mono, you will still get the music in the channel. Make sure you are recording your music first (stereo), then lay your vocals in afterwards unless you have more than two channels to work with.
