Hi.
I am a young musician and i wish to record direct input from Instruments or microphones to my laptop computer. I have;

A line 6 Guitar port.
Cubase SX3 and knowledge of the system in audio and midi format.
A program called ARWizard that records whatever comes through my speakers.

Whenever i have recorded using the line 6 port and ARWizard i have recieved poor quality recordings.

Also, i can only record one track at a time. Thus i cannot play back a track and rcord onto a seperate track at the same time.

I have experience as music technition as i did A levels in the subject, but i am stumped as to what i can do.

What I would really like is to be able to record direct input from guitar, through the line 6 port into cubase, but i am unsure how to do this, if it is at all possible.

Any help or reply would be gratefully received.

Thank You.

Also..

I also thought i should ask. Everyone seems to talk about plugging into soundcards. How would i go about doing this on a laptop computer that has the soundcard built in?

You should be able to record guitar directly into cubase using the guitarport, no need for that other program. The guitarport is functioning as your soundcard for this application. In the future, you might want to invest in an actual amp, mic, and interface (essentially an external soundcard).

Unless your sound card supports full-duplex (simultaneous recording and playback) you won't be able to multi-track. :(
As far as the Guitar Port goes, it looks like a budget preamp with effect/amp modeling software. Maybe someone here knows better, but. . . to get better quality recording, you'll need a better quality preamp.
You can get some nice audio interfaces that will solve both problems, but most use firewire, which your laptop probably does not support.

thanks

So in other words, you're a thief.

Use your 'A levels' training to get a job, save some money, go to a music store and buy a legitimate copy. Then you can feel safe contacting the manufacturer for assistance.

.

Thanks

thank you so much for your help.

I am so very grateful.

its a good job you were here at this time to save me from my wicked ways.

One day im being GIVEN a copy of cubase for study purposes by my music teacher, the next i am breaking into your house at christmas and urinating on your children.

I am obviously just a bad person, but you have shown me the error of my ways.

Thanks again

Sam.

And besides all that, did anyone mention your a freakin moron too? You can justify your actions by blaming your teacher or by using your sick comedy but the truth is you are a thief.

Yeah, I mean, if your teacher gave you a copy to take home (for study purposes, as you put it), why don't you ask the teacher?
That could avoid alot of abuse you will get in here! Pirates are known to get beheaded in here!

Be Careful!
