currently i record my synth. directly (plugging it to a preamp and from there to the audio interface), but this will make it MONO.

does your preampand audio interface have two line ins? What I do when I record my synth is plug two instrument cables from the L and R out on the synth to line in 1 and 2 on my audio interface. What audio interface do you have and why do you need to plug it into a preamp first?

They synth will more likely have line-level outputs, which means you don't need a preamp at all. Just plug straight into the soundcard
