What is a good mic to use?Should it be a vocal or guitar mic?Anyone have an experience with this?

Hi,
Try using a Shure Sm57. Mic the amp the same way that you normally would.

If you have it available to watch, check out Pink Floyd's "Pulse" video. It's been a while since I've seen it, but I'm 99.9% certain that Gilmore's talk box is miced using an SM58. If you have a 57 and a 58, why not experiment? See which flavor tastes better. The last time I recorded a talk box, I personally used a 57 and was very happy with the results.
