I've asked this questions quite a few times, but no one seems to answer :) I've done this before, but I somewhat forgot I did it.. Here's the problem. I wanted to record the sounds coming from winamp (midi audio). I just think this is the only way I can convert midi to wave file.. Or is there any way I can convert it? Thanks :)

there's a couple of ways I know

What soundcard do you have ?

If it's a soundblaster live you can do it internally, convert midi to wav. There are some programs that can also do it like Timidity and Electric Ears or something like that. Check out www.sonicspot.com they have some format converter programs listed at their site with reviews, features and links to homepages.

If you have the sblive, play your midi file, but record with the "what you hear" option. It will record whatever you hear, like midi, streaming audio off of the web, cd audio, anything you hear it hears.

Good luck, Peace, Silver

Go into cakewalk or whatever recording software you use. Load the midi track, select another track for recording and set the source to the wave output of the card which plays your MIDI sounds. Record the track as wave. Hint: Make sure MIDI track is playing aload as you record.

Don't waste time with file converters which go wave to MIDI. Midi does not become sound until played by a MIDI device. The better the device, the better will be your recording.

I have two sound card (Unknown pc sound card) and M-Audio Audiophile (for recording)... How about using Sonar or Vegas Pro?

There is also a freebie program out there (somewhere) on the web called "Total Recorder" that will let you record any audio stream going through your computer. Good tool to keep on hand.

Thanks... I downloaded Total Recorder, but it seems to not work.. I click on the record button while a song is playing from winamp, but when i playback.. there's no sound? Is there something wrong with the configuration?
