Recording sound is poor...?

Hello, guys.
First of all, excuse my english.....
I'm non-native.

Recently I bought a samson meteor usb mic.
And I plugged it to my macbook
and recorded using garageband.
But it sounds really disappointing.

I've seen a lot of videos that is recorded with samson meteor mic,
And they were all pretty good.
But my recording is not really better
than my iphone voice memo.

It's the first time I use microphone
and record so I don't really know
much about it.
So I wonder if there are some things that I should check before the
recording.

Thank you. and again I'm sorry
for my poor english.

It's not noisy, but...
literally the sound quality isn't good.
I think it sounds too weak, and shallow.
But the headphone sound is
Pretty good.

I'm not fluent in english so it's
really hard to describe...

Hi Joe,
If you are at all serious about recording get your money back for that microphones and then ask here about an Audio Interface and separate microphone.

Yes, your initial outlay is going to be 3 or 4 times the price of the mic but much cheaper than golf!

Dave.

So you're good with the way he/she is using and setting up the mic? ;)
Has the OP got the mic at a distance that will produce a good recording?
Is the room not causing any artifacts that the mic is picking up?
Are the levels in the computer are set correctly?
Are any effects or EQ in the software being applied that muck up the sound?
There are times I don't like my own voice and a Neumann ain't gonna be the fix. :)

If the OP hasn't got some fundamentals figured out to getting good sound into the DAW or other software he/she might be using, then an upgrade to the mic and interface may not fix whatever issues he/she has presently. Meteor may not be a great mic, but should suffice for someone on a tight budget to start out and learn a bit with.

Note the proximity effect (closeness to the mic) and how distance affects the sound....

Sound like crap? (the mic's sound actually surprised me)....

A bit of acoustic guitar....

Too much reverb for my taste, but passable....

As ever Mark (me Dave BTW) you make abundant sense but I did say "IF the guy is serious".
If he is he will swap for decent kit. If not your guidance will I am sure help a lot.

Jus' cuttin' to the chase!

Dave.
