I know a lot of people record pop songs that they play along with .What I'm wanting to do is use my mini disk recorder like a band and leave out the keybaord parts so I can play.how do I do it or how do other people do it .[sofware etc.]

Well, once it's been mixed down, it's tough to get rid of stuff (other than center-channel items like vocals, etc...). You'll probably want to knock some of the mids and highs out, but you're gonna lose some of the vocals, top end of guitars (especially the pluck of acoustics and the scream of leads), and the cymbals/hihats...

Do you use a DAW (computer-based recording program)? You may wish to simply find some of the phrases that don't contain keyboards and repeat them and arrange them as close to the song as possible, that might work. As far as the MD-8 is concerned (is this what you're using, or are you using a consumer-based minidisc player?), you'll need to either A-B repeat the "keyboardless" parts of the song, or find an EQ setting which suits you.

Short of having the original multi-tracks which you can re-mix without the tracks you want to leave out, there isn't much you can do...

There are "minus one track" CDs that are designed to be practice arrangements, with one track intentionally left out of the mix for someone to play along with, but these are not the original songs -- simply re-worked arrangements.

Karaoke is a similar concept, except it is the main vocal that is left out. Karaoke songs are also NOT the originals with the vocal removed. Again, they are new, simpler arrangements...
