Which software do you guys recomend that is good?

I started with montego digital orchestrator and i did my first recordings few years ago but when i introdused a mixer there was a long delay between playback and recording i replaced digital orchestrator with Cakewalk pro audio 9 and latency got better
I also have Samplitude master V6 on the computer but i cant work it out it seems very complicated (is it me?)
and a mate gave me Logic Platinum 5.2...........but havnt used it yet.....

What do you guys use and recommend?

Thanx

my two pics currently...

Steinberg Cubase VST/32 (or Cubasis if you can't afford a $300+ prog or get a copy given to you by a studio hehe)
http://www.steinberg.net

and...

FASOFT N-Track (full version available for around $30 and VERY awesome)
http://www.ntrack.com

That's about what I'd suggest. Both are pretty simple to use (in my opinion) and are quite powerful. Cubase/Cubasis is a resource-hog, whereas N-Track is MUCH better on it... But the Steinberg progs are much more full-featured than N-Track. I'd suggest getting a demo version of each of 'em and try them both out. They're my two main progs right now.

I'll suggest Cubase SX. Obviously, there are a lot out there, and many people will suggest many different softwares!

I worked with: ProTools LE, Sonar, Samplitude, Logic, Cubase SX (I hate all earlier Cubase version!) Nuendo...

My 1st choice will be Nuendo. I switch to Cubase SX when it came out because it based on Nuendo's audio engine. But I sure that when Nuendo 2 will came out, I'll buy it :) (a bit expensive...)

Logic 5 rocks !
I've been using Logic for years and wouldn't switch now. Although it does take quite some time to learn.

Logic

Logic is a good one, no doubt. I ve done a few project s with it, this didnt gave me the time to learn it well, obviously. Just the basics. (was logic 4)

At this time I was using Cubase 5, on most recording project, and like I wrote before, I hate Cubase before Cubase SX. So Logic was my next move, mainly because it was sample accurate and Cubase wasent. Then I tried Nuendo, witch is the one I prefer.

And you guys know what? Samplitude 7 looks veeeery cool! I might take a look at it in a few days..

I haven't gotten to mess with Logic yet... Perhaps some day soon. As for Cubase VST or Cubase SX, I know that SX has been getting a LOT of support from people who hated VST, and really, what's the big differences? I don't have the cash to get a copy of SX yet, so I'm sticking with my VST/32 for now, but what are some major reasons to upgrade? And I'm still curious about Nuendo as well. What's the benefit of using Nuendo over Cubase or Sonar and the like?

Christos,

I'm a CakeWalk kind of guy.

Currently I have HomeStudio 2002 which restricts me to two inputs.

If you're likely to be using a mixer before your audio card (it'll be an Echo MiaMIDI, right :D) you'll probably only need two inputs.

If you want to record a whole band with individual instruments on seperate tracks in your tracking software, you'll need a multi-input audiocard and something like SONAR.

Dude, about Cubase SX vs VST... There is to much difference to describe them all. I fact, in my opinion, Steinberg should have give this software a completely new name, this way I'm sure they would a sell it more because there are a lot who didnt like Cubase VST.

Take a look at it on www.steinberg.net and you will see. Then, if you have more precise questions, I'll probabely be able to give you an adequate awnser :)
