Hello Everyone, First of all, thank you to anyone who replied to my inquiry about Dat vs CDR. I've actually decided to have my DAT machine repaired and hang on to it. Anyway, I am currently using a Fostex DMT-8 track recorder. I am probably going to be selling it soon for around $500 if anyone's interested (needs minor repair per f-forward button). I'm looking in to replacing it with a computer and multitrack software. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which kind of computer I should buy, sound card and software? I am looking to do at least a 12 buss set up, 24 bit and have at least 16-24 tracks all together. If anyone has any suggestions as to what I should look into buying or if this is not a good idea at all, I'd very much appreciate the advice. Thanks. Jim - Big Boot Studios (bgboot@aol.com)

its a great idea.. whats your budget ? if you own a studio you prolly want the real deal , and i believe pro tools on the mac is just about the standard.. but it costs alot of $$$$ .. give us a dollar amount , and we'll give you plenty of options.

also , you might wanna post this question in the computer recording and soundcards section of the bbs , more people will see it there ... especially people like me who just pop in and check the newbies forum and the computer recording forum due to lack of time...
