Alright well I recently got an 8 track recorder however I'm not getting the full sound I wanted from it so I've decided to begin investing in some software. I'm a beginner and am not sure what to use or even how the software works. So some of my questions are...

1. I use a DP-02 8 track recorder and need to know whether or not I can get it onto any software at all.

2. Can anyone please help me understand how the software works and what I need for it.

3. How much do you think it will cost to get started up?

You don't have to answer all of them, even 1 will help greatly. Thank you :)

If you're not getting the full sound you want through lack of channels, or lack of access to effects etc. then Reaper is generally recommended around here as a software DAW... (head to Newbies forum to check).

If you're not getting the full sound you want for another reason you should seriously consider that it's lack of experience with recording, and insufficient attention and/or equipment at the sound source, not the medium you're transferring the sound to..

Cheers

Your first question does not make any sense. Software (DAW) is used on a computer. Your DP-02 is a stand-alone recorder - it has built-in processing, you cannot change/add to it.

One could possibly convert the data created by the recorder into WAV files and import them into a DAW. I do this frequently with the data from my Boss BR 1600. I import the WAV files into Cubase LE for mixing/editing. I am guessing that the DP-02 could do this as well.
