I need opinions on all the recording softwares because i need to know which one i should get....

I use Cubase SX 3 and love it, but it's very pricey, Sonar 4 is also really nice. I guess it really depends, what are you planning on doing specifically?

You should definitely get them all. It's a worthwhile investment in your recording future.

Seriously, dude. You need to tell us what features you are looking for and what you have/are willing to spend. There is decent software for under $100, and killer software if you are willing to spend hundreds to thousands.

I use Cubase SE, an inexpensive version of Cubase with 48 audio tracks. I have no complaints. It works for my needs and my budget.

I use Sony Vegas 5.0... very pricey, but it's great for what I do. If you are willling to spend $600.00 that is...

looking for a program that is inexpensive and great and easy to use...

Ok, if you just want to record some tracks from your guitar, check out some of the free programs online. Theres pro tools free and some others. Also, I don't know if these are free or not, but n track and powertracks have a decent reputation and if they cost any money, they should be cheap.

Also, welcome to the board and be sure to ask away if you ahve any questions.

Do a search on this forum. It's a little button on the bottom of the top box on your window here.

Go to Fasoft.com and try N-Track. It's only $40. I've tried them all, even the more expensive ones, and N-track does EVERYTHING the other do.

Audacity and Kristal - I've never used these free programs (I am using PowerTracks) but have seen them mentioned here - I recently looked them up on hitsquad.com (I am trying to encourage other musicians I know to experiment with computer recording) and they are described as multitrack-recording programs.

I've been very happy with Cakewalk's Guitar Tracks Pro, version 3.0. I think it's about $150.

+1 - easy to use, nice interface. Doesn't support MIDI, but if you're recording guitar, that shouldn't be an issue.

Why not get a whole OS optimized for audio with all of the software installed and ready to run on a single CD for less than $100?

I just received my copy of the Linux based Studio.. to go live-CD by Fervent Software yesterday and I must say it's amazing value for the money, mere £50 delivered to your door anywhere in the world. It's never been this easy to get an audio recording system up an running before.

hhhmmmm.....
That seems like it might be worth checking out!
