Recording Software Choice for SeaSound?

OK, here's the deal: Finally, after two months and five attempts, someone was able to correctly grind lenses so I could see well enough to read text on a monitor, so it looks like I'm about ready to bite the bullet and start recording on the SeaSound & DAW that I set up this summer.

What I really need to figure out now is what software I can understand well enough to use and will install and work with the SeaSound. Cubase doesn't, and even the supplied Cubasis is buggy.

Presumably, I need something that will work with the SeaSound ASIO rather than the obsolete and high-latency Direct-X.

Above all, I need something that isn't so immensely difficult that I'll never be able to understand it. So far, I absolutely don't understand the first thing about using any of these recording programs. Nothing. I don't expect any to be very intuitive, but I'd like to have at least a fighting chance. This means an accessible and capable user base, I suppose, as the supplied help is virtually always useless.

Thanks for any help!

bongolation,
How are you doing?
If you are not looking for multitrack sequencing , just recording, consider Wavelab.

what are you trying to do.... the direct X stuff works fine unless you are planning on running a bunch of softsynths etc and going all out which will probably overload your processor anyway. the card is not the issue. Seasound will work with most any software if installed correctly and used with a little respect for the limitations of your cpu et al. If you really want the full blown deal then Cubase and Logic will enable you to use the asio....

my experience is that it took me awhile to begin to learn to use my recording software and nine times out of ten my problems were primarily caused by my own lack of knowledge of how digital audio works.

If you are having problems the the fasoft software is a good place to learn the basics but give yourself and the software a little time to get to know each other............all software is buggy and music software is some of the worst but that doesn't stop us from getting some amazing stuff out of it.

it may take a month or two but by christmas you'll be having a ball!

Hey Bongo,

What's the word? Are you still having trouble running Cubase with your Seasound?

I'm sending my money for a computer (1 Gig Athlon with Thunderbird chipset) in a week and am picking up my Seasound Solo Ex from layaway soon, too. I was under the impression Cubase and Seasound were a good match!?!? In fact, I'm sorta counting on it, since I'm building my system around my Cubase VST software.

Hope things are going well for you, since that means they may go well for me, too.

the direct X stuff works fine
at least if you can live with 'little soundholes' in your recordings. DirectX is designed for streaming audio while other things are running and not to transmit audio properly as ASIO or EASI does. With directX an unexpected interrupt will eventually cause a loose of data.
