Hello Everyone

I have a big problem right now , i have been recording into my hard drive with sound forge but a week ago i experienced a sudden problem with my soundcard . It seemed like my soundcard is dead i couldnt get any sounds and i got one message all the time when i tried to play a song in winamp - MMSYSTEM002: A device id has been used that is out of range for your system. I was suggested to update my soundcard driver and that helped. But now whenever i try to record the silence is just too loud and all the record is too loud. If i strung my guitar bit harder it gets to distortion. Before updating my soundcard driver my records were a lot better . If anyone knows what can i do about it please help.
thanks

Turn down the input volume in the Windows Mixer -> Options -> Preferences -> Select Recording and hit OK.

thanks for replying but could you please tell me where the windows mixer is? please write the whole path. I am using win 98.
thankss

The Windows Mixer is usually located under Start (yes, the start-button) -> Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Volume Control...

The filename is "sndvol32.exe"
