I am trying to connect a comoputer to Mackie CFX12.mkII at church to record the sermons and any other event. I am trying to find out what all I will need to conect to two together? Also, Once the recording is done how can I or with what software can i use to break the event down into tracks? (For example if the choir sings 4 songs I want each song its own track).

Thank You all.

For starters, try this for a simple and free recording app.

As far as connections go, tell us about the sound card that is in the computer before we continue.

No computer yet.

ATM there is no computer yet. I am trying to figure out what all i need the then I will get it all. What would you recommend for a good audio recording computer? (PC type)

Here's an expensive but solid and clean cut way to go. But don't let them fool you on that site, you can do what you need with basically any relatively current PC....

Okay is there a cheaper route. I can build the computer but does it have to be a superfast Processor and memory or can it be a basic machine like a beginning gaming machine?

Soiunds pretty good to me. Post some specs of what you have in mind and it would be a more solid "sounds good to me"... :p

One other thing. Do you intend to record each track individually (as in guitar vs. vocals)? If you do, a really basic PC might not get you by very easily. Your best bet is to better define your objectives (as in what level of quality are you going for?) and dollar amount to spend. I know it sounds like I'm asking a lot but we might be saving you hundreds if not thousands by not shooting for the stars if you only intend to land on the moon anyway...

Cheerz

One of the local stores have a Celeron 3.0 for $54. I can put 1 GB memory and 300 GB SATA hard drive for storage. CD Burner and I need a recommendation for the sound card. I will just be recording the services for people to take home and listen to again or for the the elderly that are not able to make it to the services. Nothing intense.
