i keep going to that page thats always advertised at the top of this page , its advertising that u can get free training in a studio local to you .. Well i look at the copyright date , its 1992 , does this seem a little out dated ??? And has anyone actually used their services? Is there a catch? One more thing , i live in australia, is it still possible to use their services.. Hey Ed your a moderator , is this ad still valid , or did it get forgotton in the last 100 updates of this page .... thanks all

Spider,

try the School of Audio Engineering. They are an Australian-based outfit (although apparently they have schools all over the place). I don't know a hell of a lot about them - I considered going there once just out of interest.

Anyway, their web-site is at www.saecollege.edu.au , or the global one is at www.sae.edu

But ive tried for local studios but no luck ... I want to apply (i dont know if youve heard of edith cowan uni. )for ECU Bachelor of Recording Arts Next year and i was seeking more hands on role ... well i have a lot of studio experience , alot a studio could use as well ..... but its quite hard to get in contact with a studio willing to take on someone purely for work experience... anyway anyone that could help would be much appreciated ... cheers heaps.

hey spider,

i'm from the Gold Coast, i've just completed certificate iv in audio engineering at SAE Brisbane which costed me $8000, true it's alot of money, but you do learn alot, what you can do...which is a cheap way around it.....try to get work experience at the SAE in perth for a week or two, they always have people doing work experience that way you can get them to show you how everything works and you can sit it on some classes.

I was going to be a smug little Melbourne lad and say move to a real city where we have studios :D, but why not try some of the smaller ones in Perth. I don't know what the scene is like over there - perhaps Cooperman has a better idea than me seeing as he lives there - but there are heaps of little recording studios around Melbourne, and a surprising number in the rural areas. Some of them are surely going to want an extra person at some point.

hey there all , well i really didnt think it was going to cost that much ... maybe for a degree or something , but for a certificate !!! but like u said mr engineer , im sure you would learn heaps.. Hey, by the way gaf, believe it or not but we actually have some , well , rather prestigious studios in perth , mmmmm, well im sure there prestigious.. Actually ive already tried writing away to most of the studios over here , but whether they actually get back to me is another story ... Ive already spoken to cooperman about it , funny enough it turns out he lives just around the corner , (small world eh!!) and i think he did the same thing as me , with no luck .. Thanks for the idea about sae , work experience , mr engineer... i might try that .. but wouldnt they see through me , i mean wont they realise im trying to learn something for free (it seems such a crime nowadays) (also im sure if howard knew about this site he'lld slap a gst on it !!!!prick!!) sorry all , just had to vent my anger about that ... perhaps is there any engineers in WA that anyone knows of who might want an extra hand ,
anyway thanks all , by the way has anyone seen that add?? is anyone game to call that number .. I bet your phone bill afterwards wont even fit in the letterbox !!!!
cheers everyone ...
