Hi there,

I have an Alesis SR16 for drums, but my tunes are missing that "human" element in the percussion area. Any suggestions for recording a real drum set with ntrack? I had two thoughts:

1) Record snare and kick from the SR16 to left and right channels respectively, split the stereo track in two, then add real cymbals. This doesn't allow for tom tom fills though.

2) Same idea as #1 but with real snare and kick. I could air drum the tom tom fills and add those to seperate tracks later like I would the cymbals.

I could mic the whole kit and record it to two tracks, but I think that would take a lot of work to get the right stereo mix from the board. I would prefer the control of using seperate tracks though.

TIA for any advice!
